House Maid-Hiring a House Maid Based on the Letter of Recommendation

By Alice Sy

When a house maid is applying for a job, believe it or not, the letter of recommendation is usually controversial. A reference or recommendation letter is a crucial factor in the hiring process since most employers greatly base their judgment on the letter's case. Sadly though, there have been wide speculations about these letters that improperly judges the maid. If you belong to the skeptic group of employees, here are the appropriate actions to take when a maid or agency issues the letter to you.

Never assume or judge. Even criminals are given the opportunity to defend themselves in court. There are kind-hearted agencies out there. There are innocent and hard working maids too. A reference or recommendation letter is always written with good intentions, for the maid to get a job. Some employers actually do want the best for their maids and recourse to giving good grades.

Get the record straight. If you really want to, you have a way to find out the truth behind those words. Remember, the maid has worked before and you have a right to contact those references for a sweet and short chat. You also have a right to be given certain factual documents from a governmental agency free of bias. If you have all these, you'll have higher chances of getting that truthful maid.

Settle Doubts on the Interview. Based on your standards you are free to assess the honesty of the maid during the interview. Try to recall those important highlights in the letters and bring them up for verification, be observant on the way the maid's answer your questions. Check for consistency and transparency. Your instinct will readily tell you if there is something wrong or if every thing is perfect.

The house maid will always be thankful to you just by welcoming her letter, there's no harm either in doing so. For the sake of humanity, let her go should there be something for the maid to be guilty about. Otherwise, be objective and give her due process she deserves. No matter what happens, feel free to decide anyway, with what your paying for, you deserve the best after all.
