What You Should Notice When Visiting Military Funeral Services

By Dianna Sanders

For most military families, receiving a knock at the door to reveal an individual in uniform is a shock as they receive the news about the passing of a loved one. All persons on duty regardless of rank are provided dignified transport arrangements. Military Funeral Services are different from traditional ceremonies as it delivers a number of formal processes and honors the sacrifices made by the deceased.

These matters are often handled with the transport of a flag covered casket to an airbase. The body is handled with care and the utmost respect until it reaches the funeral home where it is prepared for the ceremony. In most instances, the deceased member will be dressed in complete uniform as a sign of respect, honor, and duty.

The person who has passed away is transported in the coffin with feet first while being honored and saluted at the different transfer locations. There is a great deal of time and focus placed on upholding the integrity of a deceased and the duties served. Numerous standardized measures are applied for those who have retired, been discharged honorably or have been killed in duty.

Caskets arrive at the burial site covered with a flag to honor those who have perished. A pastor will be presented to share a few words and blessings for the person who has passed on as with a traditional burial. The flag of the country is folded and offered to the family members attending the procession.

The family may request that the remains be handed over to them for a private memorial. In most cases, the deceased is provided a standard service with emphasis placed on dignified and honorable processes. Such measures are taken regardless of the manner in which the individual had died.

All burials are conducted with honor and dignity. These processes are different from traditional funerals and include honor guards at transfer points. All staff members can assist in ensuring that facilities deliver the necessary measures.
