Stop Making these Twitter Marketing Mistakes Now

By Mai Carson

While Twitter marketing can be successful, many people don't quite know how to use it successfully. You're about to learn some common mistakes you should avoid.

Twitter marketing is just like other methods of marketing. The ideas are the same and you should act the same way. One of the most common mistakes made by new Twitter marketers is that focus more on themselves rather than keeping their focus on their followers. The bottom line is that not many people are interested in every little thing about the product you're promoting. People don't want to have to sit there and admire how great your product is. You must get that people don't want to hear how important you are. People only want to hear what your product can do and what it can do for them. You have to lay it all out for them so that they understand what you're saying. You could invent a revolutionary new product, but if the prospect thinks he won't benefit, you're wasting your time. The reason why you're marketing on Twitter is to make more sales, get more leads and grow your business. Always treat your followers as you would want to be treated. Twitter is so popular with people because it allows them to stay connected with people they like to communicate with. Successful people become a part of the community and give recommendations to certain products that can do certain things for them. Don't just go on a long diatribe about how great the product is and just talk about it naturally as you just found a new product and wanted to talk about it.

Don't just start sending out marketing links to your followers in droves. If you want to start selling a product, you need to go into it as carefully as you can. You can effectively do this by offering up some advice that doesn't cost anything, and then hit them with the promotional offer. If you have a product offer that has to do with acne, for instance, your first tweets would be about acne and why people should work hard to free themselves from it. A good way to do this is to let them know that there are other things they can try, but that these things are ineffective and useless. You have to show them that your product is the best, and in order to do that you will have to create a desire to work on this particular problem. This is how you get people to click on your links, as people will not respond to strangers just coming up to them and tossing links their way. You don't want to come off salesy, and instead be a friend who is recommending a product that will help them with their problem.

You cannot be too reserved in your Twitter communications because nobody is likely to respond to you. If you want to make strong bonds, you need to be friendly with people and make them trust you. You shouldn't find this difficult because Twitter allows you to do many things to get in contact with other people. You can give people advice, get into conversations and inquire of others, too.

In short, the mistakes that we discussed above are easy to avoid, but you'll have to keep an eye out for new ones all the time.
