Types Of Commercial Safety Rain Jacket

By Ben Pate

There are many jobs that involve employees working outside exposed to the elements. This means that they are exposed to all sorts of weather conditions. This includes rain. There are some jobs that cannot stop just because rain happens; in those situations it's very important to have proper rain gear. There are many companies out here who offer proper types of commercial rain gear. It is very important to wear the proper gear because during heavy rain an individual can become saturated which can lead to sickness. Most jobs that require workers to be outside during rain storms are hourly jobs and do not offer sick time.

Rain Gear

Commercial rain gear is popular when it comes to heavy duty protection from the elements. In addition to offering protection the rain gear should be made from waterproof materials and have high breathability. The worker must be protected from the rain and water conditions, but should not be uncomfortable in the rain gear. There are varying kinds of rain gear depending upon the occupation. Firemen for example need protection from water, but also from fire. Therefore they need flame resistant gear as well. There are other occupations where the workers are not allowed on a job site without proper rain protection.

High Visibility Rain Gear

Often times there are crews that need to work on the side of the road. They would need rain gear that offered high visibility as well. Working so close to traffic is hazardous in rainy conditions it is even darker and there are more distractions for motorists. In these cases the rain gear must be comfortable as well as have high visibility. The rain gear will normally feature reflective strips and bright fluorescent shades that will provide maximum visibility.

Rain Jackets

Another type of protective rain gear are rain jackets. They are not the heavy duty commercialized version of rain gear, but in certain circumstances are all that's needed. The jacket is supposed to keep the upper part o the body dry from rain or water. Depending on weather conditions the jacket can be lightweight or be heavily lined.

Rain Pants And Bibs

Rain jackets are for the top half of the body, leaving rain pants or rain bibs for the lower half. Bibs actually cover the entire body as an overall. A jacket is worn over them and it provides maximum protection from the elements. They're good for fisherman who work in heavy rain and water conditions as the body is twisting and turning. Rain pants keep the lower have dry and can be made of lightweight materials or can be heavily lined to provide warmth as well.

Rain Ponchos

There are also rain ponchos, these are ideal in case someone comes in contact with rain but will not be working in it for a long period of time. Delivery personnel and some government workers spend most of their time in vehicles, but occasionally will be exposed to all weather conditions. In these instances a rain poncho would be best suited to protect them from rain and wet conditions. Ponchos are made from light weight materials and are easily stowed. The commercial rain gear also feature varying colors and can be highly visible when needed in hazardous conditions.
