Personal Storage: Restricted Items

By Omar Backer

Storage space issues are the effect of people's capacity to buy items and objects that they want but do not really need. Moreover, there are business people who need extra space where they could securely store their goods. As an answer to the issue of storage space, the personal warehouse is a really welcome boon. Nevertheless, although you've been told that you could keep anything and everything inside a personal warehouse, you have to be mindful that there are, all the same, certain restrictions on particular items.

The limitations are created for the purpose of keeping you, the other tenants, the warehouse firm's staff and personnel, the warehouse building, and other establishments in the surrounding area safe.

Thus, if you are planning on storing some of your personal stuff in a self-storage facility, be aware that there are particular items that are prohibited from storage. In order for you to be properly advised, you can bring a list of the items you wish to place in storage and consult with the warehouse facility manager in order to receive appropriate guidance. For your reference, here are several objects and goods that are prohibited inside a personal storage warehouse.

Materials that are categorized as inherently dangerous should not be stored in a personal storage unit. Kerosene lamps, motor oil, grease, fertilizers, paint, biological wastes, and/or items or substances that are combustible, biohazardous, toxic, or flammable are some examples of items, substances, and/or materials belonging to this category. In addition, in accordance the rules of the state, stolen goods, illegal narcotics, contraband and smuggled goods are banned self storage. These items may be considered as evidence in case the tenant is arrested.

There are some facilities that own freezer units available so as to handle perishables. Usually, however, perishable goods and animal products are prohibited from being kept in a personal warehouse unit. Aside from the great possibility of spoiling, these goods also have the great possibility of drawing insects and/or pests. Thus, in order to avoid causing trouble to the warehouse staff and to other tenants, it would be do good if you consult with your storehouse facility manager before storing goods that you doubt the category of in your personal warehouse.
