CPAP Machines Help Those With Sleep Apnea

CPAP, Continuous positive airway pressure, machines help those who suffer from sleep apnea to breath while sleeping. The machines are costly, but they are important for the health and well-being of those who need them the most. They come with a nose piece and hosing that connects the machine to the nose and mouth of the wearer.

The sleeping disorder, Sleep Apnea, where the person with the disorder has a difficult time breathing while asleep. A lack of oxygen can be dangerous and should not be left untreated. It might lead to fatigue during their waking hours and can lead to other, more serious illnesses, especially if left untreated.

A sufferer should talk with a doctor if finds that he is tired or if he knows that he snores heavily. If the patient sleeps with someone, that person is likely to be the first one to figure out that there is a potential problem. That person is very likely to notice that the patient may stop breathing or have labored breathing while he is sleeping.

A general physician will likely send the patient to a specialist for further evaluation and testing. From there a patient may be asked to wear a machine to test his breathing pattern or his oxygen intake as he sleeps. The specialist will be able to judge whether or not the patient would benefit from the use of a ventilation machine.

Sleep apnea, in mild cases, may be cured by doing some specific physical therapy exercises and by sleeping on ones side. In moderate or worse cases, the doctors may be likely to give the patient a breathing machine to help him be able to sleep more normally while sleeping. He might also suggest other types of possible solutions such as a diet, exercise routine and even some surgery options.

If the doctor decides that the sufferer might benefit from using a machine, he will probably schedule a sleep study which will reveal more about his disorder. While he's there he might be attached to various devices that might measure his oxygen levels and to evaluate his breathing patterns. It is quite likely that he will be scheduled for several consecutive nights of observation by specialists and technicians who will monitor him and discover his breathing pattern.

It's important for the patient to learn how to care for and maintain his important machine. It is a sensitive device with sensors and needs to be handled properly and with care. It's also important that the patient know exactly how to use the machine to get the proper settings for his particular needs.

CPAP ventilation machines can be very expensive, but they are also very necessary to save lives of people who have Sleep Apnea. A medical doctor can be the one to diagnose someone after they have done observations and proper testing and can then help the patient get the help he needs. It's very important that he is instructed as to how to properly use it, as well as how to properly care for it.
