Small Business Grants Loans:Do Small Business Grants For Women Exist?

By John Roney

The number or grants available for small businesses are enormous. The United States Government has many programs that assist small business owners with the start-up or expansion of their business. The Small Business Administration is a federally funded program that focuses on the business ownership among individuals that are neither socially or economically disadvantaged. You have the ability to take advantage of grants if you know the right places to look.

If you are a woman, just starting up a company, or you are trying to expand your already existing company, then you may want to look into some of the many small business grants for women that are still available. However, there is a misconception about federal government grants for business. US government agencies do not give grant money directly to businesses and individuals for startup. That being said, the government does routinely give out grant money--to states and local communities. The state and community projects, funded by the federal grant funds, can mean money to your business, in the way of contracts and sub-contracts.

The Department of Health and Human Services is the only executive agency where Small Business Specialists report to the OSDBU Director. These Small Business Specialists are located within the eleven agencies of HHS. Every day, these Specialists work with Contracting and Program Office staff, so as to determine the best acquisition strategy; they also work to make their approach unified so that when vendors deal with Health And Human Services, this unity will benefit them.

In order for individuals to see if they qualify for a grant, they must submit a grant proposal. A Small Business Grants Loans proposal is formal letter, or business plan that outlines; how much money is needed, and what expenses will be paid from the grant amount. Grant research kits as well as other online resources are available at the public library and at various websites free of charge. The Government tends to grant the majority of grants to individuals who demonstrate a concern to the nation or to their community, by providing long term assistance to unprivileged, socially, and economically disadvantage neighborhoods.

Neighborhood development grants that target educational assistance for the poor, and increased job skills are likely to be approved, especially if a minority or woman is the chief pursuer. Anyone can apply for a grant, but it's the ones who do it right that have the most success in actually getting them. Getting a government grant is a very real possibility if you know the proper steps to take.
