Top Ten Items To Bring Camping

By Hedrick Lepsch

The entire nation recently suffered through a bitter cold snap that many were not sufficiently prepared for. The polar vortex, as it was called by scientists and propagated by the media, was so severe that it directly lead to several fatalities across the country.

Zombies, on the other hand, are as terrifying as they are disgusting and thus have earned the right to announce their presence with the title "apocalypse". While the vampire can be spotted driving exotic convertible cars around the city at night with their black capes fluttering behind them, the zombie can be seen aimlessly wondering on distorted limbs with nothing but a hunger for live flesh keeping them going.

Sleeping Gear - Sleeping can be the roughest part of camping and that is why you need to make sure that you have a good sleeping bag and pad. If you don't have those simple things then you can kiss your zzzs good bye! You should have a solar flashlight in your sleeping gear as well, just so you move around at night with some idea of where you are going.

One of the first and most important needs of any survival kit, zombie apocalypse or otherwise, is water. Fresh water and a way to make more fresh water (i.e. a water purification system) should be a top priority for any person looking to survive a major disaster.

Clothing - This is where planning can really save your bacon. You need to have at least one change of clothes and some set of warm clothes as well. This can include rain gear, shorts, and a swim suit just depending on where you end up going.

Finally, a homeowner can prepare their home for defense against the bitter cold snaps of winter weather by striving to undertake a few different steps of proper preparation. A home that is well prepared for winter weather will be an adequate refuge from the deadly cold.

Scrambling from place to place with hungry zombies nipping at your heels is just a part of everyday life in a zombie apocalypse, so packing your favorite pair of running shoes is sure to come in handy. Next, one will need a long range weapon to deal with zombies from afar (preferably something silent such as a crossbow) as well as a melee weapon for those inevitable close encounters.

Likewise, insulating the pipes of the home can help to secure it from winter weather. Un-insulated piping in the home can freeze surprisingly easily and wreak all sorts of havoc.

Keep these things in mind as you set out on your next camping excursion and you can be sure that your experience will be much better than what many people have.
