Some Tips For Newspaper Telemarketing

By Jayne Rutledge

Ever since the internet came into the picture and got more and more popular, the newspaper companies have actually suffered a downfall in subscriptions. Of course the big ones are still up because they have already made their name but the smaller companies are having a hard time. So in order to beat the competition, it is actually possible to apply some newspaper telemarketing techniques to stay on top.

These days, there are still a lot of people who would try to sell subscriptions over the phone because this is still a rather effective method. However, they are going to have a hard time because they will be competing with the internet. Now with good telemarketing skills, they will still be able to gain an edge over their competitor and end up successful.

Just like in any sales endeavor, the salesman has to first catch the curiosity and interest of the prospect that he is targeting. Now when making a cold call to gain a subscription, it is first important to know whether the prospect has an existing subscription or would want one. After that, one may proceed with the sales pitch.

One of the main things that one would do in order to attract buyers would be to tell them about coupons that could save them money on certain products or services. Usually, newspapers would be giving discount coupons to those who would subscribe. This is definitely one of the weapons that the telemarketer could use in order to get more subscriptions because it would be hard for anyone to resist something free that would save them a bundle of money when they shop.

One good advantage that the papers would still have over the net is that many people may access the papers when they are out of the house. This is a very powerful convincing statement because it offers consumers convenience which may actually convince people to subscribe a little bit more. So do not forget to add this statement as it is an important part of the sales pitch.

Now if one is a fan of music concerts or events, then he might want to subscribe to a newspaper because the papers are more updated in this section. Although the internet may provide information quickly, not everything on the net is reliable. However, all information on events and such on the papers are updated and accurate.

Of course there is also the referral technique where telemarketers would be asking old subscribers for more referrals. First, they would ask the existing subscribers if they are satisfied with the news and the service that is provided to them. If they say that they are satisfied, then it will actually be easier to either get a referral from them or they themselves could advertise to their friends about how good the company is.

In this day and age, the papers will have a hard time moving if they are not that well known. It is for this reason that newspaper telemarketing is extremely important in order to get more orders. Of course one has to know how to use the right techniques for this.
