Protect The Environment With Made In The USA Products Directory

By Andrea Davidson

Finding American made items can often be a difficult task. Many items are today manufactured abroad, not in the United States. With the fact that 30 million jobs have been lost in last decade, rising unemployment, and an economy still struggling it's never been more important to investigate ways to keep money in the domestic market. This is why the made in the USA products directory is extremely important.

Consumers will find everything from clothing, eyeglasses, and other personal items to residential household, lawn and garden supplies, furniture, automobiles, and boats, as well as a wide variety of other items. Industrial woodworking, milling, and a list of manufacturers on almost any product can be found. Buying from domestic manufacturers also means keeping jobs at home, and building up a struggling economy.

When considering that 5.5 million jobs in manufacturing have evaporated, just over a ten year time span, its no wonder the economy is struggling. Considering that with any one job are five other jobs lost associated with manufacturing is a sobering thought. The positive side is that when consumers buy American workers are put back to work, and jobs are saved.

Expanding into foreign markets has been a popular enterprise in the last ten years, but it has not helped put money into the American economy, and it has been especially harmful to communities. Part of the money for merchandise is paid to workers in the form of wages. Their wages are spent in communities, states and affect national budgets as well. If the products are foreign these wages are spent in foreign communities. When American products are found from made in the USA product directories, and purchased, American communities and states benefit.

Buying American also ensures environmental and human rights laws are upheld. It's very difficult to hold manufacturers responsible abroad for environmental or human rights violations since many foreign countries have little to no laws regulating environmental and human right abuses. When abuses occur to water, air or soil there is often no consequence at all to the manufacturer.

American labor regulations stipulate that children cannot be used in labor and workers cannot be forced to work long hours. Neither of these conditions apply abroad. Laws in regard to human rights in other countries are sometimes slow to progress, and when abuses occur workers may not have no options. American merchandise assure labor laws are upheld, environmental practices are ensured, and the right of workers are not ignored.

Small businesses sometimes have a difficult time competing in the marketplace in regard to the trend toward cheap labor and cheap products. The customs fees, shipping and other fees can be enough cause small businesses to go out of businesses, not being able to compete with trends in the larger market. Buying American means helping small businesses stay in business.

Knowing this, when considering purchasing products and services, make sure to investigate the made in the USA products directory. Not only will consumers benefit from top products and services, but they will create American jobs. With job creation is economy growth, and assurance of the best possible labor and environmental practices in the world.
