No One Knows You're Observing Them With This Camera Concealed Within An Ordinary Alarm Clock

By Ashman E McCray

Although granny is 90 years old, we have decided to keep her with us. Everyone is busy with work so we enlisted the help of a nurse to take care of her. In the past weeks, we noticed our grandmother's health deteriorating. Mother suspected that the nurse had not been giving her the attention that she required.

As we had to substantiate any allegations, I thought of getting spy cameras to follow what the care provider was doing while we were away. We bought a hidden camera alarm clock that we found on the Web, a video camera that was camouflaged as an ordinary alarm clock. We figured that we could catch the care provider in her most unguarded moments if she was not aware that the alarm clock was really a nanny camera that could see her.

With this hidden camera alarm clock functioning as a real alarm clock, it was no trouble to place in granny's room to find out how she was being treated by the nurse. With the DVR built-in, no installation was required because a video recorder was in the camera.

Motion-activated recording was possible. The DVR would only start recording once it detected movement in our grandmother's quarters. This way, we did not have to go through clips where nothing was happening.

Our hidden camera alarm clock could further prevent activity from animals from setting off the recording. Since nana's pet cat usually moved around the room, it could make the DVR commence recording. With motion detection area masking, this would not be possible at all.

It was easy to look at the clips as we could link the camera to a television with the included RCA cable. Or a computer could access the videos saved on the free 8GB SD card once we slotted the card in.

Once the hidden camera alarm clock was in position, we made it a point to look at the clips every day. At first, nothing significant was being shot. A week ago, though, we ascertained that the care provider disobeyed instructions as to the time of our grandmother's medications. We became sure of it after observing the frequency with which she entered the premises with the medicine pads in tow.

The care provider was remorseful after we made her watch the videos but we replaced her in any case. Every home should invest in spy cameras given that the household staff could be neglecting their responsibilities.
