End Your Party with a Bang by Giving Unique Tokens

By Nia Lawrence

Coming up with great ideas for throwing a party and properly executing it are not what makes a successful event. For the host, one of the more reliable measures of success is the number of people who actually came to the party. The closer the number is to your projected value, the more successful it is in your eyes. The number of people that remains till the end is also an indicative measure of success; mainly because their staying means they are enjoying themselves. Because your guests play such an important role to the feeling of joy and satisfaction you get over the success of your social gathering, it's only right that you give them a token of your appreciation for their attendance. Such tokens are usually in the form of party favours given by the host or hostess at the end of the party before the guests leave.

Before you start looking for the actual tokens themselves, try to give yourself time to think about what kind of tokens you yourself would want to receive. This is one of the better gauges for knowing what your friends will want to get as well. Another thing you need to consider is the budget. Try to see if it's cheaper to make your token than to buy one. Gifts like cupcakes and other food items tend to be cheaper made then bought, but you have to weigh it against additional time and effort needed on your part in order to come up with it.

A token becomes more valuable if it actually serves some purpose. Keep in mind during your search that a useful token will more likely be kept by the guest than a plainly decorative one. Small boxes personalized with the date and the occasion can be used to store jewelry or cufflinks. A pretty picture frame with the picture of the celebrant can be recycled to house another photograph later on. With a little more thought put into the process, you'll be able to come up with party favours that your guests will surely treasure.

Once you've made a choice, you would have to think of the quantity of items you would need to get. Ideally, you should just get enough so that each guest will be able to bring home something. However, a more practical number would be in excess of your planned number of guests, just in case some people arrived with other people you did not expect at all. If you are having these tokens custom-made, make sure you know the conditions of placing an order. Most manufacturers almost always will require a minimum order. If the quantity of the required order far exceeds what you actually need, reassess your choice of token to see if it is still worth giving out.

Showering your guests with thoughtful little tokens will not just make your guests feel good about being at your party. Beautiful tokens will also encourage them to come again the next time you host a gathering. So, if you want to be known as the host who always gives successful parties, let the party favours do the broadcasting.
