Ways You Can Set Up Your Very Own Farmer Cart

By George Dodson

Have you ever been driving somewhere and noticed a little stand on the side of the road? Someone was selling something such as tomatoes, cantaloupe, or some other form of vegetable and fruit.

Those little farmer stands are very important in some communities especially rural ones. Fruits and vegetables are being sold in their freshest condition. If it is not consumed after a certain time it gets destroyed or spoiled. For that reason, farmers often put up these little stands so they can sell their excess produce to customers who happen to come along. The fruits or vegetables always taste much better here. More often than not, these fruits do not use pesticides as well as other chemicals.

If you're living in a rural place and grow your own produce, how would you be able to set up a farmer stand?

The location is the first thing that you want to consider when putting up a farmer stand. Do you want your farmers stand at the local farmers market? If you want to put it up at the local market then you will need to consider a small fee. Consequently, you will also be working with other competition who probably sells the same things as you do. Setting your stand at the end of the driveway is also a good idea. People driving by can see your stand or the sign pointing to it. In a parking space, travelers will be able to inspect your goods.

What do you want to sell? What do most people buy? The answer is probably that they go by such things as tomatoes, corn, jalapenos, and fruits such as apples, oranges, and cantaloupe or other types of melons. You will be looking at a good opportunity to profit if you decide this selection.

When would you like your farm stand to be established? What is the best time of the week and of the day? Is night time the best time to establish your farm stand? Conducting a test would probably best in this situation. You can simply ask competitions for tips or advise. If not, you can simply browse the net about this topic. Surely there are other farmers who have run farm stands who had that information.

How much do you want to sell your items for? If possible, try to keep your prices at a minimum for you to be able to sell your goods. A good example is selling a produce good for as cheap as half or a quarter of a dollar. You can also opt for per box, can or carton depending solely on which fruit or vegetable you want to sell.

Most of the best advice is that you should start small with a few items and test to see which ones sell the best. As you progress you can add items one at a time until you get a really good feel of what people want. By doing this process you are able to provide the customers needs accordingly and you are able to run your business smoothly without having to spend much.
