One of the things you do not see much of, currently, is carbon paper. It used to be a staple in many industries as the way to get copies of an original. The invent of carbon less forms made this need go away which was a happy event for many employees. The carbonless printing industry still has a very large footprint on business papers.
You will find these forms in many applications where a copy must be available immediately. Bill of sale forms are some of the most common items. Restaurant checks will often be on these and shipping documents will also be in this form. The uses for these are limited only be the imagination and the vital need.
Printing the forms will be the critical operation. The preparation of regular office papers does not follow the same rules of registration as these forms must. Each of the pre printed lines or boxes must be lined up directly under each other. This is done so any writing or drawing will fall within those boxes or on those lines. This is important so there is no misunderstanding about where, on the form, it belongs.
Putting a form together begins with a description or a written example of what the client needs the form to look like. That rough copy is then composed on a computer and a finished copy is printed out. It is agreed to or changes are made and a printing plate is developed. This is what will be used to transfer the copy to all of the paper being printed.
These forms will not need that carbon paper so, obviously, the paper that is used must be very special. It is coated on one or both sides, depending on where in the form packet it is placed. This coating or chemical is what transfers the image. Most packets will be a multitude of colors so that each one is designated for a different purpose and or file location.
The set up of the various sheets can get complicated if not thought about in the right way. The top page will have a coating on the back. The second sheet will have to have this chemical on the front. That is for a two part form. The second and each additional page will have to have coating on both sides and the bottom sheet will not have that coating on its back.
The printing is accomplished and the papers are collated in the proper way. A special padding compound is used to make these special form packets. It is not the same compound as is used to make note pads. This adhesive takes its orders from the way the coated paper is collated. After padding or gluing, the entire pile of papers will be fanned to break away form each other making individual form units consisting of two, three, four or more pages in each unit.
Computer printers, in many homes and offices around the country, are good for a great many things. The need for an immediate copy and a clear image still rely on forms that are filled out, many by hand, on the go. The carbonless printing professionals can be found in a great many business parks and industrial areas and some of them are conveniently online as well.
